Job Description:

Reporting directly to the Health & Safety Manager, you are in daily contact with managers, supervisors, administrative staff, hourly employees, contractors, union representatives & safety representatives regarding injuries, first aid treatment, annual hearing tests, wellness initiatives (including EAP), first aid kit supplies & Disability Management issues.

 

Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities:

You are responsible for:

  • Disability Management Program including pre-employment medicals and return to work evaluations; participation on the Joint Modified Work Committee
  • Hearing Conservation Program
  • Rx. Safety Glasses Program
  • Wellness Programs (such as smoking cessation, gym membership benefits program information, EAP referrals)
  • Blood pressure, weight & diabetes screenings
  • Maintaining confidential records
  • Coordinate Physical Demands analyses on jobs, as required
  • Coordinate qualified fit testing for the appropriate personnel
  • Review/analyze incident report data on a monthly/annual basis with site leadership and recommend corrective action to improve results
  • Assist with other safety program activities as required
  • Works out of the medical unit on site.

 

Qualifications:

  • BN, RN, LPN, or Occupational Health Nursing Certificate designation, current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Licensed Industrial Audiometric Technician (LIAT) or willingness to obtain
  • Proficiency with Titmus vision screener for pre-employments and monitoring
  • 3-5 years Occupational Health Nursing in a manufacturing setting is preferred
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Emergency response experience
  • Ergonomic experience is a definite asset
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
