Scrap Inventory/Inspection Coordinator

This position is responsible for carrying out scrap inspections, production entry, scrap pile managment, zero pile management and auditing according to Gerdau and SAP guidelines. Involvement startes from the time the scrap arrives at the scale until the time is is received by the Melt Shop.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Resolves inconsistencies in scrap inventory, moving material from commercial piles to industrial piles for Melt Shop consumption and zero pile.
- Coordinates the pile management process in SAP for scrap yard.
- Performs routine inspections on incoming scrap.
- Handles all scrap error processing and COGI’s (errors due to lack of consumable material available in an industrial pile for production in the Melt Shop.)
- Review and mai ntain co-products inventory.
- Manages all Metallic PRD functions (movement, entries and adjustments to maintain inventory and production records for the operation in SAP.)
- Perform mass balance calculations to ensure pile accuracy.
- Subject matter expert on receipts on truck, rail and transfers from other Gerdau units.
- Interface with all contractors who impact inventory.
- Serves as liaison between Raw Materials Procurement, Scrap Operations and Melt Shop personnel and Accounting for any scrap inconsistencies.
- Participates in physical inventory and visual inventory control checks in the scrap yard on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
The qualifications for this job are:
- High School diploma required. Associate’s degree and/or post-secondary education preferred.
- 2-3 years experience in plant operations or equivalent preferred.
- Strong analytical & troubleshooting skills.
- Previous experience performing data-entry, data analysis, inventory control, and bookkeeping/accounting related activities preferred.
- Demonstrates proficiency with various software & computer applications. Excel spreadsheet experience required and SAP experience preferred.
- Knowledge of scrap and steelmaking operations preferred.
- Selected candidate must obtain RSO (Radiation Safety Officer) certification within 6 months of hire.
Abilities and Skills:
- Experience in activities related to scrap receiving, production, storage and transfer.
- Production process of knowledge of scrap.
- Computer proficiency required; SAP & QMOS skill set preferred.
- Ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships.
- Conflict negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to perform and prioritize a variety of analytical tasks with minimum supervision.
- Strong attention to detail especially as it relates to spreadsheets, data-entry, data analysis, numbers, etc.
Languages:
- Fluent English.
- Spanish or Portuguese is an added advantage.
