You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a related area of study.
  • Minimum of 12 years of related purchasing experience managing a wide variety of major purchasing projects/initiatives. 
  • Experience with supplier management, value analysis, and contemporary Procurement processes, combined with negotiation terms and conditions, inventory control procedures, pricing methods if applicable. A general understanding of accounting practices and related manufacturing costs/supply sources required.
  • Over 10 years of Steel Industry experience in Procurement with good knowledge of the different commodity areas and critical materials required for the steel making process.  Preferably with Gerdau.
  • Self-directed; capable of developing and executing departmental strategies while performing tactical procurement activities.
  • Ability to develop and lead teams and influence change.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Project planning knowledge and experience.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite software and SAP.
  • Strong technical aptitude and analytical skills with the ability to assess trends and statistical data/reports.
  • Proven coach and trainer of the procurement process.

 

Your Purpose:

You will report to the Director of Procurement based out of our Corporate Headquarters in Tampa, FL. You will interact with corporate peers from other countries to manage the Global Procurement process. You will ensure the development and execution of Procurement strategies for your respective area(s) that are aligned with the businesss needs.  You will also interact with your corporate peers from your region and other countries to manage the Procurement process.  This position will also engage regional Procurement Managers and Buyers to ensure the best possible quality and price at a regional and local level are attained. 

 

You will be responsible for not only technical expertise in the Procurement, but also for supporting and providing leadership to your respective customers and stakeholders across Gerdau locations. You will provide direction to local Purchasing teams, guiding them, educating them, and ensuring that Corporate and Global Procurement processes are implemented and sustained for their respective area(s). 

 

Dimensions:

  • Supervision:     Manage 4-8 direct reports and guide 12-14 indirect reports
  • Budget:            $500K - $700K

  • Locations:        Supports all Downstream, Recycling, and Mill Operations (to include GLN & GSN)

 

Your Work:

  • Procurement Strategies are developed and executed that will improve/protect the financial results of the company and bring value to the operations.
  • Develop a competent team of Category Managers who can effectively manage strategic categories and negotiate the best overall value for the organization while consistently engaging our internal customers.
  • Proactively monitor and assess market intelligence such as news feeds, cost drivers, supplier financial strength, etc. to minimize or eliminate risks that could negatively impact manufacturing cost and/or supply of critical materials.
  • Create a core team that is fully integrated with the internal customers, in which internal customers trust and rely on to help execute cost improvement projects.
  • Focus on process improvements to increase automation of the sourcing/buying process and enhance data quality.
  • Focus on process improvements to improve work load management and the seamless transition of CAPEX projects to OPEX (if applicable).
  • Develop and create new Procurement policies for the organization and ensure all Procurement processes and policies are communicated, educated,executed, and adhered for their respective area.
  • Utilize technology to improve the efficiency of the team and place emphasis on more value added activities.
