Hybrid Logistics Analyst II  - This position can sit in Midlothian, TX or Tampa, FL

You Have:


  • Bachelor degree required
  • 2-4 years of logistics experience with a fundamental knowledge of freight concepts, practices and procedures
  • Ability to analyze data and trends and make recommendations based on business objectives
  • Mindful verbal and written communication skills to develop and maintain carrier partnerships
  • MS office proficiency and advanced Excel skills required.
  • SAP, Transportation management systems, and/or Microsoft 365 development (PowerBI, PowerApps, etc.) with linked databases are a plus


Your Purpose:

As part of the North American logistics team, you will provide analysis, technical support, and carrier communications to maintain transportation structures, systems, and ongoing freight services for Gerdau Long Steel North America.  You will work daily with outside transportation service providers, Gerdau departments and locations, regional transportation managers, and mill shipping supervisors to obtain and provide information to meet logistics needs.  You will maintain logistics communications with Finance, Accounting, IT, Fulfillment, Pricing, and other stakeholders. This position will report to the North American Truck Freight Manager. 


Your Work

  • Assist with the negotiation of proposals, establishing and verifying shipping procedures, and analyzing shipping data to look for opportunities and identify market trends.
  • Assist in the development of policies, guidelines, and procedures to ensure high-quality, low-cost shipping opportunities. 
  • Assist regional logistics managers in soliciting quotes, reviewing, documenting, analyzing carrier rate proposals. In addition, maintaining rate and freight tracking systems, tracking communications, and negotiated rates, and entering or reviewing invoices. 
  • Provide logistics information for routine and established accounts to the raw materials group, mill products sales, and other departments as required. 
  • Act as a system wide administrator for freight systems by maintaining the freight rate tracking program, calculating various transportation rates, updating system with changes as required, and communicating between Gerdau shipping departments and information services. 
  • Investigate payment discrepancies, resolving issues related to incorrect data entry, and informs appropriate Gerdau logistics and financial personnel of non-conformances and corrective actions as needed.  
  • Coordinate activities with the mill Logistics Managers, warehouse, and dispatch teams to cascade and maintain logistics policies. 
  • Prepare and file Freight Claim documentation with transportation vendors in accordance with policy, and disseminates claim information to Gerdau logistics, commercial, and financial personnel as needed.
  • Conducts distribution and network studies, monitors inventory and analyzes requirements to develop strategies to achieve desired delivery times and order fill rates. 
  • Work independently to analyze, summarize, and disseminate large amounts of highly confidential and classified information.  Also, analyzes new rate proposals, economic conditions, increases, and rate changes as needed to determine carrier competitiveness.  Based on the needs and demands of Gerdau, the incumbent will advise on the acceptance or rejection of carrier rate proposals.
  • Monitor, track, and assess Carrier performance to provide statistics and ongoing concern to the Regional Managers for action.
  • Maintains the fuel surcharge table as the National Fuel Index dictates to ensure that a correct fuel surcharge is added to the delivery ticket for auto-payment to carriers.
