You Have:

  • A four-year college degree in Engineering or Materials Science combined with 6-8 years of experience in Freight Management.
  • Experience with contract negotiations for carrier services, brokerage contracts, claims resolution, and optionally fleet management.
  • Possess solid presentation skills combined with exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Possess a broad knowledge of the transportation industry.
  • Familiar with all phases, procedures, and modes of finished steel product transportation, including management procedures, and techniques.
  • Experience with freight regulations in Canada a plus.

 

Your Work:

As a senior-level manager you will be responsible for Gerdau’s North American truck transportation program.  Reporting to the GLN Director of Logistics within the Gerdau Supply Chain, you will lead the creation and deployment of truck transportation strategies aligned with customer experience, effective pricing, and coordinated supply chain efforts. GLN logistics manages outbound finished goods shipments for 9 mills through approximately 160 trucking carriers in the US and Canada.  This is an exciting position involved in end-to-end supply chain discussions, open-ended business opportunities, development of new technologies, opportunities to enhance the customer experience, and utilization of strong leadership to continue the growth and development of a logistics network.  This position sits at the fulcrum between commercial opportunity, customer service, carrier experience, and supply chain efficiencies.
