You Have:

• BS Business Administration and a working background in supervision
• 5 to 7 years experience including significant exposure to scrap production, scrap processing, delivery.
• Broad knowledge of the Scrap Recycling industry, being familiar with health and safety management, accounting, industrial relations, and management procedures and techniques.

Your Purpose:

 You will direct and coordinate scrap production at the Metals Recycling scrap yard location in Union City in order to achieve production output, and profit objectives consistent with quality customer service and safety and corporate goals. Under the guidance of the Recycling Regional Operations Manager, this position is responsible for the overall management, profitability, and production for the Union City Metals Recycling location.  This position has direct responsibility for providing prescribed Gerdau Ameristeel Steel Mill with the lowest cost, high quality scrap in order to obtain captive scrap goals aligned with the Company’s strategic objectives. 

Your Work:

• Responsible for overall health & safety in conjunction with the Corporate Safety program for the location.
• Effective implementation and application of Gerdau Ameristeel Business Systems.
• Responsible for Labor Relations and personnel policy at the location.
• Responsible for achieving operational goals.
• Responsible for maintaining customer relationship with Gerdau Ameristeel Steel Mills and Third Party Customers.
• Develop and implement strategies for third party sales to generate cash and savings to the Steel Mills.
• Direct responsibility for the transfer cost of internal scrap material into a Gerdau Ameristeel Steel Mill or Recycling location and/or scrap material to a Third Party Customer Steel Mill.
• Overall responsibility of the locations costs including spending and budget development.
• Responsible for continuous improvement and long term planning.
• Ensures environmental compliance and conformance within Corporate policy and procedures.
