Reporting to the Safety Manager, you will be responsible for assisting with loss prevention /control systems, as they relate to health and safety and in providing technical support for improvement efforts. 

The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for our employees.

 

Responsibilities

  • Will assist managment with the development and implementation of a safety management system aimed at preventing and controlling losses
  • Will participate in incident preventation activities, including inspections, observations and incident investigations.
  • Acts in an advisory capacity to managment and may serve as a liaison with governmental agencies as necessary
  • Ensure compliance with applicable health and safety regulations and standards
  • Provide training and education on health and safety procedures to employees
  • Investigate accidents and incidents and develop strategies to prevent reoccurrence

 

Requirements

  • Preference will be given to candidates with a post-secondary degree and/or certificate in Occupational Safetyand Health or CRSP/CHSC designation (preferred)
  • Knowledge of safety and health regulations and standards
  • Knowledge of industrial hygiene
  • Demonstrated experience with WCB processes and return to work programs
  • Previous experience in a 7/24 Manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and safety management software
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
