This position will be at the Selkirk, Manitoba Steel Mill.

  • The Electrical Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for ensuring standardizationof process within their assigned area of responsibility. Ensures that standardizedprocesses are properly documented and that the required training is provided topersonnel responsible for operating to the standards. Assists in failure analysiswhen significant problems occur and compares performance to existing standards.Makes appropriate updates to standards when needed. Performs audits ofperformance against standards and develops appropriate corrective action toensure compliance.
  • The incumbent establishes work methods and procedures for corrective andpreventive maintenance programs, coordinates with production personnel in orderto minimize downtime and maintenance costs. In conjunction with Manager,establishes maintenance priorities and annual action plans and key measurables.Responsible for maintaining maintenance inventory of replacement parts andequipment.
  • The Electrical Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for subordinate selection,training, evaluation, discipline, motivation and safety. Accountable for employeeand contractor compliance with established safety procedures.
  • Incumbent checks work in progress to ensure proper maintenance is beingperformed, anticipates problems, investigates inadequate equipment performanceand takes corrective action. The incumbent will provide electrical engineeringexpertise to special projects within the division and assist with projectmanagement and implementation.
  • Frequent interaction with vendors and suppliers regarding equipment repair,onsite activities, and trials for potential changes indesign and equipmentcharacteristics.
  • The major challenge for the incumbent is to eliminate production delays due toinadequate equipment and breakdown.

Qualifications for this position include:

  • Electrical trades license, Electrical Technologist (3-year college) or Electrical Engineer Degree
  • Ability to lead a department of highly skilled tradesmen
  • 2+ years supervisory experience
  • Strong administrative skills, with a production sense of urgency
  • Ability to train people and serve as a coach to employees.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both written and verbally in English language.
