Job Summary:
Plans, organizes, and leads a plant shift. Responsible for detailing schedules, enforcing safety, ensuring quality, and monitoring production requirements.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assign work to production operations utilizing daily production schedules, work orders and verbal instructions.
- Coordinate the production, warehousing, and material transfer of product and supplies.
- Check work in process and inventory labels to ensure proper product identification and adherence to production quantity and quality levels.
- Diagnose quality and production problems and take corrective action.
- Assist others with machine maintenance, repairs, and set-up operations.
- Train new employees in all areas of the plant.
- Compile machine and shift production reports related to tonnage, product type, and inventory levels.
- Report performance or discipline problems to supervisor.
- Report accidents that occur to appropriate personnel, and write up reports documenting the occurrence.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Meet with maintenance to optimize preventative maintenance downtimes in accordance with production schedules.
- Perform inventory reconciliation to validate that production is equal to consumption.
Safety:
- Report all incidents and accidents immediately.
- Follow all safety rules and requirements of work area.
- Participate openly in all safety meetings and investigations.
- Report and correct all unsafe conditions immediately.
- Participate in Safety In Action System activities.
