JOB TITLE: EHS Specialist I
JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for providing professional health, safety, and environmental support to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and to improve the industrial health, safety, and environmental performance of the organization. The role assists in implementing and maintaining safety management systems and environmental compliance programs, including loss prevention, pollution control, hazardous waste management, and emergency preparedness.

NATURE & SCOPE:
The Safety & Environmental Specialist reports to the Safety Manager or Engineering/Environmental Manager and works closely with management, supervisors, and regulatory agencies. The incumbent will:
· Support the development, implementation, and administration of safety and environmental management systems.
· Act as an advisor to management on health, safety, and environmental issues.
· Serve as a liaison with governmental agencies during inspections and correspondence.
· Participate in accident prevention activities, inspections, observations, and incident investigations.
· Assist in planning and reviewing new facilities and equipment to ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
· Collect samples and data for permits and licenses and prepare required reports for federal, state/provincial, and local agencies.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
· Develop and implement safety and environmental programs, policies, and procedures.
· Conduct on-site inspections to ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
· Maintain communication systems for safety and environmental issues across the location.
· Train and coordinate employees on environmental equipment and safety practices.
· Prepare and file all required environmental reports and maintain compliance documentation.
· Assist in developing emergency response procedures for environmental incidents.
· Stay current with new technologies, trends, and regulatory changes to recommend improvements.
· Support annual action plans for safety and environmental performance.
50 % travel to all our US locations
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor’s degree in safety, environmental science, industrial hygiene, engineering, or related technical discipline.
· 2–5 years of experience in safety and/or environmental compliance (manufacturing or heavy industrial environment preferred).
· Knowledge of federal, state/provincial, and local safety and environmental regulations.
· Strong problem-solving, communication, and influencing skills.
· Ability to work with diverse teams and regulatory agencies.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
· Familiarity with hazardous materials management, air and water pollution control, and waste transportation regulations.
