You Have:

  • Four-year degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Economics, or related field combined with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in purchasing and storerooms OR in lieu of four-year degree, 5 years’ experience in leading employees in an industrial or manufacturing environment with exposure to standardization and procurement methods.
  • Experience in a combination of storeroom, procurement, rolling mill, melt shop and maintenance is preferred. Exercise good inventory control decisions and judgment.
  • Knowledgeable about maintenance and production department needs and trends, formulating short- and long-term objectives to ensure quality and continuity of the supply chain while minimizing total cost of ownership. 
  • Must be able to gather facts, report on them objectively, and apply problem solving techniques accordingly.
  • Solid interpersonal and communication skills, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize workload based on peak times.
  • Must be able to operate storeroom equipment.
  • Proficient with computer and software applications.
  • Ability to travel 5% of the time to complete job duties, and to maintain an effective network of vendors/suppliers, mill personnel, and industry organizations.
  • Able to work a day shift and be on call 24/7 to field calls on weekends and evenings or attend to ocassional storeroom needs. 

 

Your Purpose:

You will manage a customer focused, high performing, and safety conscious Storeroom and materials planning process.  You will be managing 4 storeroom personnel, coordinating the materials planning process, and ensuring that key functional Storeroom processes adhere to standardized procedures.  You will ensure the quality of services and seek input from customers and management to improve services and meet customer needs.

 

Your Work:

  • Determines inventory requirements through the effective utilization of the ERP systems. Facilitate the routine evaluation of reorder points (ROP) and safety stock parameters to ensure inventories are in line with historical and future consumption rates and lead times.
  • Periodically review and adjust economic order quantities (EOQ) to ensure a proper balance between ordering and carry costs.
  • Coordinate the Cycle Count Program to maintain accurate inventory counts. Thoroughly analyze discrepancies to identify root cause and implement corrective action.
  • Facilitate, with Maintenance and Operations, the obsolescence review and dispositioning process.
  • Work closely with Maintenance to proactively plan material requirements for routine maintenance, including the establishment of planning bill of materials (BOM) and master scheduling of routine maintenance.
  • Facilitate training sessions for Storeroom Attendants under a maintained training matrix on compliance standards, routine methodologies, tools, policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Coordinate the treatment, reporting, and disposition of non-conforming materials. Ensure supplier performance documentation is accurately updated in a timely manner.
  • Develop and monitor performance (KPIs) expectations, audit performance, document findings, and establish corrective action.
  • Work directly with Maintenance Manager and customers to continuously improve Stores processes.
  • Adhere to the 5S standards for the Storeroom.
  • Administer all safety activities. Coordinate all emergency preparedness practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Work directly with the Maintenance Manager in the development of annual action plans for Stores projects and personnel development.
