Your Qualifications
- 4-year college degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical degree.
- Minimum 2 year of proven experience in industrial maintenance or engineering.
- Strong communication Skills (verbal, written, listening) including ability to communicate effectively with all levels or organization and to articulate ideas
- Basic understanding of steelmaking process
- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain mechanical and hydraulic systems
- Ability to troubleshoot failures using data acquisition systems and trending software
- Knowledge of industrial mechanic components such as pumps, gearboxes, cylinders, fans, etc. and their failure modes
- Previous Experience using CMMS such a SAP
- Knowledge on Predictive Maintenance techniques, for instance Oil/Grease analysis, Vibration analysis, Ultrasound Analysis, Thermography, etc.
- Experience on Lubrication and Centralized Lubrication Systems
Your Purpose:
You will be primarily responsible for seeking opportunities to implement solutions to improve the stability and productivity of the steelmaking process. Additionally, you will collaborate with the operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve safety, equipment utilization, cycle time and product quality. This position reports directly to the Melt Shop Superintendent.
Your Work:
- Identify and solve problems that adversely affect plant performance (safety, productivity, cost, etc.)
- Use technical knowledge and equipment documentation to develop preventive, predictive and routine maintenance programs.
- Collaborate with the Operations, Maintenance and Engineering teams on analyzing failures and developing corrective actions plans.
- Provide support to maintenance and operations including on-call and call-in duties when necessary.
- Assist with planning, organizing, and managing area budget and expenditures.
- Provide managerial and technical support for CAPEX projects (from development of scope to commissioning).
- Monitor and update a comprehensive set of process parameters, equipment setpoints and performance metrics.
- Train / coach mechanics, contractors, and operators to improve their equipment knowledge as well as troubleshooting abilities.
- Provide oversite of contracted suppliers.
- Collaborate with the Engineering department on the development of long-term strategy for new installations and equipment upgrades.
- Provide support on planning and execution of maintenance outages.
- Work individually and in teams on processes, practices, and equipment related projects.
- Analyze data and create reports.
- Prepare data sheets, diagrams, and flow charts for correct and efficient operation of the equipment.
- Assist with and participate in the process team building efforts through participation in improvement activities.
- Attend required training courses and conferences for technical and career development.
- Share knowledge and lessons learned with peers (local as well as from other business divisions).
