Position Purpose

 

To coordinate Sales orders and promise dates to fully utilize the efficiencies of the equipment, while providing on-time deliveries to customers. SAP scheduling system in a manner that will provide the most automatic and efficient scheduling of the Manufacturing Department. Provide a communication flow of information with Sales, Quality Control, and Metallurgist team. Purchase and maintain accurate inventories of bars from Gerdau Midlothian Bar Mill.

 

Principal Accountabilities

 

 

  1. Validate material availability as well as timely production capacity.
  2. Coordinate both master production schedule and detailed production schedule at GMSP providing accurate order confirmations back to customers.
  3. Provide light technical support to customers as needed, coordinating with the Midlothian Metallurgist Department on more complicated questions.
  4. Monitor daily production to ensure orders are being produced on time, report status of orders in production meetings. Inform Sales and Manufacturing of any delinquent orders
  5. Provide Reports in management meetings that communicate bars status and aged inventories. Evaluate and resolve GMSP production schedule for customer agreed dates (OTIF) whenever significant events occur such as production schedule delays, raw material delays, customer order insertion, etc.
  6. Working with Midlothian logistics, create and receive daily transfer orders for raw materials.
  7. Develop and maintain an inventory capacity model so we can manage GMSP and stay within physical and financial inventory limits
  8. Responsible for purchasing supplies i.e., labels and ribbons. Forecast daily, weekly, monthly, quarter, annual (RF) volume, revenue and margin as well as demand back on the Midlothian bar mill (or other as appropriate)

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

 

Associate Degree, plus 5 or more years work related experience in the field

 

Education or equivalent experience

 

Knowledge of basic computer operations with at least 5-years’ experience to include spreadsheet applications and SAP system.

 

Additional Qualifications

 

Basic understanding of material flowin a manufacturing environment or posses the ability to learn in a short period of time. Basic understanding of raw material applications to cstomer specific specifications. 

 

Problem Solving

 

Original and independent thinking is a large part of the job. Communication with management and Sales in changing machine orders to maintain customer delivery dates.

 

Determine product/machine combination to best utilize equipment efficiently. Ability to communicate with raw material suppliers about rolling schedules, deliveries, and stock availability.
