Job Summary:

 

The Supply Planning Specialist (aka Scheduler) will be responsible for the production planning and scheduling of steel fabricated solar pile to align with the Company’s sales, production, and logistics goals.  The incumbent will work closely with operations, sales, and customers to ensure the Company meets customer needs while maximizing efficiency and minimizing costs. 

 

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Candidate will support collaborative planning processes with strategic partners to increase supply chain visibility
  • Drive supply chain performance improvements
  • Coordinates with the mills and other vendors to ensure appropriate product/materials are in stock or available for production orders and resolve projected supply/demand imbalances
  • Works closely with plant leadership and external stakeholders to develop and maintain production plans detailing product, size, grade, length, tons, customer, and shipping information.  A major emphasis of the position is to level out unanticipated and unscheduled production delays to minimize cost and/or interruption to customer delivery schedules.
  • Monitors daily production and communicates status and needed adjustments to all relevant stakeholders
  • Coordinates and works with customers and/or transport carriers to schedule outbound shipments and address service failures.
  • Will work with the corporate and mill logistics teams to ensure competitive and comprehensive carrier agreements and freight rates
  • Works with Quality and accounting to resolve claim issues
  • Maintain accurate and complete records relating to inventory, shipping, production, audit, safety, et. Provides reports and other data to leadership as necessary.
  • Perform audits of inventory, materials, et as necessary
  • Follow all PPE requirements and safety rules and guidelines for all tasks being performed
  • Assist in training of coworkers as needed
  • Exhibit engagement in GBS tools and methodology
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

 

 

Requirements/Skills:

 

  • High School Diploma or GED required, degree in Supply Chain Management or related discipline preferred.
  • High level of administrative and organizational experience with the ability to balance multiple priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong PC skills including complex spreadsheets and a database environment
  • Competence in using a variety of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) applications
  • Knowledge of steel mill and finishing fabricating operations and procedures preferred
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work with representatives of multiple departments and outside vendors
  • Complete product knowledge
  • Strong problem-solving and auditing skills
  • Competent operating normal office equipment – copiers, fax machines, etc.

This is a salaried – exempt position reporting to the Plant Manager. The incumbent has no direct reports.
