$61000 / year (includes base hourly rate plus scheduled overtime, biweekly production bonus and shift premiums).
Must be responsible for ensuring billet identification, traceability, and quality. Monitor the proper operation of equipment including the reheat furnace, charging equipment, discharging equipment, combustion system, mill stands and auxiliary equipment. Monitor and sample finished product to meet quality specifications and records quality information in standardized check sheets.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Visually inspect and count billets entering the furnace during each heat.
- Log information on rejected billets.
- Walk the processing line counting billets and inspecting the furnace.
- Assist in the installation and monitoring of rolling equipment such as roll stands, guides, and repeaters on rolling line using hand tools, bars, levers, and sledgehammers.
- Examine product passing through the mill for surface defects.
- Move controls to set specified drafts between rolls at each stand.
- Re-adjust roll draft and re-aligns guides when needed.
- Set and adjust bolts to position rolls on mill stands using wrenches and bars.
- Operate handheld remote-controlled overhead crane to transfer crops/samples from scrap bucket to designated area.
- Obtain a sample of product from the cooling bed and measure the dimensions to determine conformance to specifications using calipers and scales.
- Perform visual inspection at the cooling bed.
- Mark bars to identify heat changes.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform routine equipment care, record and inspection on vehicles/mobile equipment to include fueling, cleaning, checking and adding fluid as needed.
- Operate overhead cranes to transfer product/material.
- Follow all PPE requirements and safety rules/guidelines for all tasks being performed.
- Assist in training of coworkers as needed.
- Maintain communication with coworkers through two-way radio and hand signals.
- Demonstrate ability and willingness to work as part of a self-directed team with limited supervision.
- Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition
- Exhibit engagement in GBS tools and methodology.
- Assist maintenance personnel as needed.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic computer skills.
- General math skills, advanced problem solving, ability to multi-task and analytical skills.
- Ability to use charts, schedules and touchscreens when applicable.
- Interpretation in the use of adjustable controls in regulating the continuous process through interpretation of measuring instruments and gauges.
1-3 years manufacturing experience is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to climb stairs, climb ladders, reach, squat, tolerate prolonged standing or walking, balance, bend, operate mobile equipment, crawl, kneel, and push and pull objects.
- Reach, squat, and tolerate prolonged sitting.
- Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to operate hand controls with both hands and foot pedals with both feet.
- Ability to perform sustained overhead reaching.
- Ability to work in extreme ambient temperatures up to 160°F.
- Ability to work in cramped quarters and at heights.
- Ability to work a rotating shift schedule, including days, nights and weekends.
- Ability to tolerate working in areas where noise levels can reach 120 decibels.
