Gerdau is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to oversee plant central maintenance.  This position is responsible for leading a team of approximately 4-5 maintenance supervisors and for establishing a productive, high performing, and safety conscious working environment.

The incumbent should be detail oriented and must be comfortable dealing with associates at all levels of the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Duties will include controlling the workflow within the area of responsibility, assist in minimizing downtime/breakdowns and maximizing productivity, monitor performance, managing routine processes, and training employees in routine management standards.    

  2. Coach and develop the team at failure analysis and support the QIS methodology.

  3. Develop performance expectations, audit performance, document findings, and establish corrective action plans.

  4. Will work with team members on audits, 5S initiatives, needs assessments, preventive maintenance and safety management processes and procedures, QIS, Kaizen Events, and other opportunities for improvement and problem resolution.

  5. Conduct trend analysis, compile, and analyze symptoms and failures.

  6. Administer all safety activities. Coordinates all emergency preparedness practices, policies, and procedures.

  7. Must be proficient and capable of using a computerized work order system for planning, scheduling, and payment of vendors.

  8. Responsibly for establishing and maintain departmental and/or project budgets.

 

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required, Bachelor’s Degree Preferred

  • Must have maintenance experience, preferred 3 years of plant utility and water treatment/processes

  • Basic math skills, problem solving, analytical skills, use charts, schedules, and computer

  • People leadership skills and ability to lead by example

  • SAP experience preferred, but not required
