Job Summary:

This is a senior level maintenance position that requires advanced knowledge of HVAC and electrical systems in an industrial setting.  Must be able to perform preventative maintenance, repair, troubleshooting and installation of HVAC equipment throughout the plant. Incumbent must be licensed to handle refrigerants.  Must adhere to all EPA regulations and maintain service and maintenance activities in plant maintenance software.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  1. Must possess and apply advanced knowledge to maintain, repair, and troubleshoot HVAC equipment associated with cranes, mobile equipment, MCC rooms, and comfort areas in the plant.  This will include commercial and industrial units, equipment, and materials. 
  2. Install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and electronic controls and systems, using advanced knowledge and understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, fluidic, and electrical systems/components.
  3. Perform welding repair, fabrication, pipefitting, and brazing on various metals.
  4. Perform new installations of equipment, including ductwork, insulating, and installing refrigeration tubing.
  5. Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment, including on the water strainers on water-cooled units and filter changes.
  6. Perform rounds and check machinery to identify abnormalities and ensure that machine functions are operating within the normal specifications. 
  7. Recover and dispose of all refrigerant gases, and properly maintain accurate records of those activities. Will work closely with the Environmental team to ensure accurate reporting as required by the EPA.  
  8. Assist in development of preventative maintenance programs for new or updated equipment.
  9. Obtain competitive bids, when required.
  10. Maintain specified records for work performed, details of repairs, and materials used.
  11. Perform data entry into SAP (work order data base system).
  12. Exercise judgement when troubleshooting AC/DC motor controls, electrical drives, and all high-voltage systems at or below 480 volts. 
  13. Assist in training of coworkers and supervision of contractors as needed.

 

 

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  1. Operate mobile equipment to lift and transport materials, including loaders, cranes, man-lifts, and forklifts.
  2. Ensure daily preventative maintenance is performed on vehicles and mobile equipment, which includes fueling, cleaning, and checking/adding fluid as needed.
  3. Follow all PPE requirements and safety rules and guidelines for all tasks being performed.
  4. Maintain communication with coworkers through two-way radio and hand signals.
  5. Demonstrate ability and willingness to work as part of a self-directed team with limited supervision.
  6. Maintain work area and equipment in clean and orderly condition.
  7. Exhibit engagement in GBS tools and methodology.
  8. Have basic computer skills.
  9. Perform all other duties as assigned.

 

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Graduate of technical school and advanced knowledge of HVAC controls, electrical schematics, motor theory, and common electrical maintenance hand tools.
  • Understanding of shop mathematics, including use of drawings, specifications, charts, tables, and precision measuring instruments.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical and fluid power, electrical control circuits, oxygen/gas/water systems, and common maintenance hand tools.
  • Intermediate to advanced drive knowledge, electrical controls, NFPA 70E.
  • Working knowledge of related diagnostic equipment including digital voltmeter, paper recorder, multi-volt meter, and other electronic tools and equipment.

 

 

AAS in industrial maintenance, HVAC or maintenance reliability certifications are preferred.

3-5 years of electrical or HVAC experience in an industrial environment is required.
