BASIC FUNCTION:
The Marketing and Business Development Manager is a hands-on protagonist leader that will lead the market intelligence area, bring opportunities to our leadership in regards to our commercial strategy, and drive the organization toward the most strategic markets, applications and new potential value-added business.
The ultimate goal is to enhance the long-term sustainability of the business by maximizing profitability, differentiating GSN from competition with an improved product portfolio and an efficient commercial strategy. This position reports directly to the Marketing Director.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the field of strategic marketing. Prior experience in the steel or the Automotive industry preferred but not required.
- Bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in Engineering, Marketing, Business, or relevant technical discipline. MBA degree is also desired.
- Incumbent must demonstrate skills and knowledge of qualitative and quantitative problem-solving techniques as well as the ability to create compelling storytelling in presentations.
- Technical Marketing skills are required as the Manager will also be a hands-on leader. That includes ability to create executive presentations (Power Point), pivot tables and dashboards (Excel). Power BI desired but not required.
- Collaborative communication skills and ability to communicate with all business areas at various levels are necessary.
- Proactive and investigative profile; ability to propose and drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Ability to travel approximately once a month to visit customers, mills, and/or attend trade shows and trade association meetings.
- This is in office position based out of Jackson, MI
PRIMARY RESPONSABILITIES:
Market Intelligence:
- Coordinate the work of and mentor a Sr Marketing analyst.
- Lead all market intelligence pipeline, including steel demand forecast, impact of emerging trends and competitive intelligence.
- Lead deliverables of executive presentations, customer events and branding initiatives.
- Lead and support medium (1-3 year) and long term (3-10 year) market studies.
- Be a key player in the Strategic roadmap and Annual Planning process.
- Manage view of demand for high value-added applications.
New Business Development:
- Direct the organization toward strategic markets, applications and new potential value-added business, differentiating GSN from competition, and enhancing the long-term sustainability of the business.
- Manage commercial and product development pipelines with Sales & Technical Services, pushing for growth and profitability.
- Monitor margins and support decision-making based on data analysis and market knowledge.
- In depth knowledge of product attributes, markets and applications.
- Deep understanding of our competitiveness relative to next best alternatives.
- Lead product and go-to-market strategies for new product lines, including on low-carbon emission solutions.
Investments and Project Management:
- Provide strong vision on new markets and applications, driving projects that could lead to new investments, partnership and growth.
- Direct business development opportunities in value added process and acquisition of tangent businesses.
Trade Associations, Events and Branding:
- Represent Gerdau in different forums and events from different Trade Associations and Think Tanks we partner with.
- Organize events with support from Marketing Analyst and External Comms teams.
- Manage brands and trademarks.
