Job Description

This position is responsible for providing effective professional safety and health leadership to improve the industrial health and safety of all division employees located at out Jackson facility.  This position will provide direction, guidance and expertise regarding all safety and loss prevention programs.  In addition, this position will ensure compliance with all federal, state, local and corporate safety guidelines.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

 

  1. Evaluate risks and develop guidelines for management accountability system to include, but not limited to: employee safety, industrial hygiene, property protection, post Injury and General Claims Management, OSHA compliance, contractors, and job safety analysis.
  2. Lead or provides major contributions to corporate safety projects to operations beyond his/her home location.
  3. Keep up-to-date with federal, state, and municipal Occupational Health & Safety regulations.
  4. Participate in safety inspections, observations, and incident investigations.
  5. Act as liaison with OSHA inspections and correspondence.
  6. Assists with developing skills training and operating procedures' training modules.
  7. Responsible for carrying out corporate, plant and departmental policies and programs.
  8. Monitor plant operations to detect, report and insure compliance with all safety regulations.
  9. Responsible for effective supervision and direction of employees under his/her direction.
  10. Responsible for emergency response coordination.

 

The Individual

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or other appropriate technical discipline. 
  • Minimum 5-7 years of safety management experience in manufacturing operations required. Steel mill experience preferred.
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is preferred.
