Duties and Responsibilities

An Intern with Gerdau must have an eagerness to grow personally and professionally, being a part of a global company with more than 120 years of entrepreneurship and achievements in the steel industry. This program is for individuals with high learning agility and willingness to adapt and develop continuously, who aim at consistently outperforming in a variety of settings and circumstances.

 

During the program you will interact with team members from around the world. You will have the opportunity to learn on the job and work on challenging projects that will further your development.

 

External Communications Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the management of the division’s social media channels, including but not limited to the following:
  • Content planning
  • Content development
  • Content scheduling
  • Prepare routine analytics reports
  • Assist in the management of the division’s website:
  • Develop content routinely for website updates
  • Coordinate photo and video shoots as needed
  • Collaborate with various departments, such as marketing, to create communications campaigns for key stakeholders, including customers  

 

Internal Communications Responsibilities: 

  • Lead the implementation of electronic screens (escreens) for communications throughout locations in

North America, and create and execute a monthly communications plan for the escreens

  • Create content, such as video, articles, photos, and graphics, that are part of our campaigns
  • Assist with arranging global and divisional meetings and events

 

ESG Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of ESG reports (divisional quarterly reports, corporate reports, etc.)
  • Support the division’s social responsibility activities, and eventually facilitate the Jackson Office social responsibility committee
  • Assist in the development of annual diversity and inclusion communications campaigns and coordinate divisional trainings as needed

 

 

Requirements

  • Have completed at least two years* of a university degree from a recognized accredited college or university in Business Administration, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Labor Relations, Human Resources Management, Organizational Management, Adult Education or Mass Communications.
  • Must be with a commutable distance of Jackson, MI mill, but ability to work remote as well
  • Record of high academic achievement: Interns must maintain a minimum of a 3.0 out of 4.0 overall grade point average. Coop students must follow the requirements for their specific cooperative.
  • Must be legally authorized to work full-time in the country of hire without requiring current or future sponsorship for employment
  • Candidates must demonstrate leadership potential, strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, initiative, problem-solving skills, deadline orientation to meet the fast pace of the company’s agile mindset and an enthusiastic personality. Working knowledge of training and development, photography, video and graphic design or the desire to learn communications is preferred. Must be efficient in Microsoft Office Programs including, but not limited to: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
