Job Description:

This position is responsible for performing a variety of material handling duties necessary to receive, store, and issue maintenance and operating parts, tools, supplies, equipment, and materials. Incumbents are responsible for unloading incoming shipments; open, identify, sort, count, or weigh items as delivered; store articles in bins, shelves, hoppers, or other designated stores areas; prepare kits for scheduled jobs; check off material list and note inaccuracies and damages; record required receiving information; process tools or equipment to be shipped for repair, deliver to local service organizations as required; performs messenger and parts chasing duties; Maintain vigilant attention to security of stored items.

Once an item has been inventoried, the incumbent is responsible for notifying the appropriate mill department that orders are to be picked up, or the incumbent will transport goods to the appropriate destination or storage location. This will require the operation of company vehicles, forklifts and handling apparatuses as necessary to carry out assignments and normal activities. When operating mobile equipment and/or overhead cranes, follow all prescribed safety guidelines and perform daily checks and preventive maintenance to insure equipment is maintained in proper working order. Incumbents must also maintain records involving receipt and issuance of goods to insure accuracy of inventory counts.

 

Preferred qualifications for this position include knowledge and use of inventory procedures, which involves significant computer usage and application and use of different company software systems including SAP, SRM, Lawson, Maximo, and GGP. A working knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office applications is also helpful.  The position requires a close attention to detail - physical inventory of stock items is periodically required. Ideally, the incumbent will have a general working knowledge of plant machinery and layout to assist in aforementioned responsibilities. 

 

The Individual:

  • High school diploma or GED Preferred
  • Two or more years of work experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • High level of safety awareness
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, including holidays, nights,  and weekends
