Machinist - Duluth, MN

Job Summary:

Performs a variety of repetitive machining duties necessary to make and repair tooling and parts needed for the production of finished products, which requires a general understanding of machining techniques and procedures.  Sets up and operates manual lathe, mills, programmable CNC turning center, sanders, and grinders.  Receives limited supervision with broad instructions for assigned tasks from the Plant Superintendent and/or the Millwright Level C.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Work involves routine tasks requiring the safe operation of machining equipment to make and repair tooling and parts.
2. Sets up and operates manual lathe, mills, programmable CNC turning center, sanders, and grinders to make and repair tooling and parts.
3. Interprets drawings and sketches, and plans and determines working procedure.
4. Performs any layout work and makes sketches of parts as required.
5. Verifies conformance to tolerances or specifications with precise measuring devices.
6. Assembles, fits, aligns, and adjusts machinery and equipment to very close tolerances.
7. Adjusts and lubricates machines.
8. Attends and participates in monthly safety meetings.

Additional Responsibilities:

1. Performs other duties, as assigned by the Plant Superintendent and/or the Millwright Level C.
