What will you do?

 

You will plan, lay out, and perform all operations required to install, troubleshoot, repair, construct, modify, calibrate, test, service, and program highly complex closed loop and digital electronic equipment in support of steel production, operation and related plant facilities. Your work will require a thorough knowledge of electrical wiring specifications, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of equipment.

 

What will a typical day be like for you?

  • Your work will involve a wide variety of duties including installation, modification and repair of electrical, electronic equipment and controls requiring much care to effectively diagnose, troubleshoot, and monitor highly automatic microprocessing equipment.
  • You will be checking and calibrating plant instrumentation; conducting routine checks in the rolling mill, reheat furnace, and melt shop electronic systems; plans and assists engineers with program changes in plant programmable logic controls.
  • You will work closely with engineers and maintenance supervisors in planning systematic maintenance as well as production personnel.
  • You will design, install and maintain a variety of complex electronically-controlled equipment such as rolling mill loop controls and secondary distribution centers; programmable sequences and pulpit controls panels; balances loads; wire complex circuits. 
  • You will perform on-line / off-line programming on a wide variety of PLC and other processor based systems.
  • You will install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and electronic controls and systems.

 

What qualifications must you have?

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Advanced education, preferred. 
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in design, coding and integration as well as HMI construction
  • Experience with troubleshooting PLC and other processor based systems within an industrial environment. 
  • Strong experience with on-line / off-line programming in a wide variety of PLC and other processor based systems.
  • Capable of working within various weather elements. 

  • Able to work a rotating schedule. 
  • Strong experience using Allen Bradley or Siemens related products.
