We are seeking a skilled Industrial Controls Engineer who is a motivated and resourceful individual to join our team as an autonomous problem solver, managing our data acquisition software in a manufacturing environment. In this role, you‘ll take ownership of critical tasks, identify opportunities, and drive solutions independently. You must have metal industry or heavy manufacturing industrial experience in sectors such as Power, Pulp & Paper, Chemical, Raw Materials, etc.

Your Qualifications
- BS in Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering preferred OR HS Diploma/ GED and 5 years of related experience in a manufacturing plant.
- 3+ years of experience with industrial automation controls and object-oriented software development and the ability to demonstrate fundamental control theory knowledge.
- Must have metal industry or heavy manufacturing industry experience such as Power, Pulp & Paper, Chemical, Raw Materials, etc.
- Experience with iBA software preferred. Major part of their responsibility data acquisition software.
- Knowledge of languages and/or technologies including: VB.Net, HTML, C, C#, Python, SCADA,
- Server management and virtual machine hosting.
- Familiar with databases such as Microsoft SQL and/or Oracle.
- HMI experience with one or more of these platforms: Ignition, Wonderware, Simotion, or iFix.
- Industrial process automation communications experience including Ethernet IP, Profinet, Profibus.
- Networking fundamentals and systems set-up.
- Ability to work Monday - Friday, 7am to 4pm.
Overview
The role of the Sr. Industrial Controls Engineer is primarily two-fold. First, to be a great team member who demonstrates high levels of honesty, integrity, and ownership in everything they do. Second, is to ensure the success of the team by SAFELY performing maintenance, programming, and upgrade tasks on Level II software systems, as well as proposing and implementing innovative solutions to challenges in the steel making process and business. Safety is the most important part of all jobs at Gerdau; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to consistently initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards.
Your Work
- Develop and/or modify control system software to meet evolving company production requirements or goals.
- Determine the root cause of control system problems and develop effective corrective actions.
- Ensure stability and availability of control system hardware and software by thorough and precise maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Work with other engineers responsible for interconnected systems to assist their troubleshooting efforts.
- Provide technical support for maintenance personnel as required.
- Ability to manage projects and contractors as required.
