Responsible for the administration and support of North American compensation, performance management and other Total Rewards plans and programs that attract, retain and motivate employees.
This position will participate in the development, implementation, compliance, administration, systems integration and communication of Total Rewards programs at Gerdau Long Steel North America (GLN) and Gerdau Specialty Steel North America (GSN) with a focus on fixed pay, variable pay plans, and performance management work streams.




This position reports to the compensation leader and is considered a Tampa Office Center of Excellence resource supporting North American operations.  The Total Rewards Analyst will work with all North American customer groups and business units.  This position will also be considered a thought leader for global processes and initiatives and interact regularly with global teams.


The qualifications for this job are:


  •  Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required; areas of study in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources or a related field preferred.
  •  Minimum 2-4 years experience in Total Rewards area(s) preferred such as compensation/executive compensation, health and welfare, work-life programs and retirement and savings plans.
  •  Minimum 1-2 years experience working with a global team on compensation administration and/or design preferred.
  •  Advanced Excel skills required.
  • Experience with union and non-union facilities is a plus.
  • Familiar with best practices, laws, requirements, and regulations impacting the administration of Total Rewards programs and plans.
  • Experience with new system implementation is a plus.





  • Participate and provide support during annual/regular processes in the Total Rewards department.  Examples include annual merit processing, short-term incentive payouts, job and pay analysis, market pricing/studies, and our global career, performance and development cycle.

  • Participate in surveys and benchmarking activities that support the Total Rewards area on a regular (i.e., annual) or ad-hoc basis.

  • Acts as center of excellence for preparing complicated reports and presentations for department members.

  • Assist in the development and delivery of employee Total Rewards communications and training / education.

  • Partner with and support field HR requests in areas of Total Rewards

  • Develop and document internal processes and procedures to support consistency, process improvement and simplicity in the Total Rewards area.

  • Support special projects and GLN/GSN wide actions, including union negotiations, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, layoffs, reductions in force and location closings or start-ups.

  • Proactively interacts and identifies global, Total Rewards, and compensation specific challenges and opportunities and recommends creative and practical solutions and strategies to resolve challenges and/or capitalize on opportunities.

  • Partner and work in collaboration with many cross-functional departments such as Payroll, Benefits, Recruiting, Career and Succession, Training and Development, etc. on company-wide initiatives and multi-department projects.

  • Primary liaison with IT and Shared Services in the development, testing, implementation, and post-production review of all SAP changes and configuration requests related to Total Rewards.

  • Coordinates the drafting and execution of Plan Documents, Plan Document Amendments and Plan Restatements.

  • Candidates should have a fundamental knowledge of Total Rewards concepts, practices and procedures and a strong analytical and mathematical aptitude.
  • Ability to adapt to many varied situations, circumstances, and personalities at all levels within and outside the company.
  • Ability to analyze large data sets, assess trends or patterns and make recommendations based on data (quantitative) and situational factors (qualitative).
  • Must be able to simplify data to arrive at main conclusions, key presentation and discussion points.
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Significant experience with the use of HR systems/relational data bases (SAP experience prefer but not required) and query/report development. Compensation and Performance Management system experience also preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills required.
