BASIC FUNCTION:

 

Responsible for the administration and support of North American defined contribution plans, defined benefit plans, and other Total Rewards plans and programs with the goal of attracting and retaining employees and sustaining them through their retirement.

 

This position will participate in the development, implementation, compliance, administration, systems integration and communication of Total Rewards programs at Gerdau Long Steel North America (GLN) and Gerdau Specialty Steel North America (GSN) with a focus on retirement plans management work streams. 

 

NATURE AND SCOPE:

 

This position reports to the Manager, Retirement Plans and is considered a Tampa Office Center of Excellence resource supporting North American operations.  The Total Rewards Analyst will work with all North American customer groups and business units as well as multiple vendor and compliance/regulatory agencies. 

 

The qualifications for this job are:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required; areas of study in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources or a related field ideal.
  • Minimum 2-4 years experience in Retirement Plan Administration required such as retirement and savings plans, health and welfare plans, and work-life programs.
  • Experience with defined benefit (pension) plans preferred.
  • Experience with union and non-union facilities is a plus.
  • Experience with SAP is a plus.
  • MS office proficiency and Advanced Excel skills required.
  • Familiar with best practices, laws, requirements, and regulations impacting the administration of Total Rewards programs and plans.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Ensures that all day to day activities associated with the management of Total Rewards programs and plans are efficiently and accurately administered in compliance with applicable federal and state regulations and company policy, with a focus on customer service and continuous improvement.
  • Acts as primary point of resolution for routine and/or escalated retiree issues.
  • Partner with multiple vendors for day to day administrative issue resolution.
  • Participate and provide support during annual/regular processes in the Total Rewards department. 
  • Acts as center of excellence for preparing complicated reports and presentations for department members.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of employee Total Rewards communications and training / education. 
  • Partner with and support field HR requests in areas of Total Rewards.
  • Assist, respond to and support audit requests from external and internal parties.  Document internal processes, procedures and administration as appropriate for audit requirements. Facilitates annual audit preparation and completion.
  • Develop and document internal processes and procedures to support consistency, process improvement and simplicity in the Total Rewards area.
  • Support special projects and GLN/GSN wide actions, including union negotiations, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, layoffs, reductions in force and location closings or start-ups.
  • Partner and work in collaboration with many cross-functional departments such as Payroll, Benefits, Recruiting, Career and Succession, Training and Development, etc. on company-wide initiatives and multi-department projects.
  • Ensure constant data integrity with internal systems (ex: SAP), external systems (ex: Benefits Center), vendor file interfaces, etc.
  • Assist senior team members working with IT and Shared Services in the development, testing, implementation, and post-production review of all SAP changes and configuration requests related to Total Rewards.
  • Assists with analyzing data to assist management with department budget monitoring (Expense Management).  Assists with budget reviews and monitoring payments.
  • Assists with reconciliation, payment and monitoring of vendors. This may include Accounts Payable payments, and analyzing performance standards for outside Total Rewards vendors.
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

 

ABILITIES AND SKILLS:

  • Candidates should have a fundamental knowledge of Total Rewards concepts, practices and procedures and a strong analytical aptitude.
  • Ability to adapt to many varied situations, circumstances, and personalities at all levels within and outside the company.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with leaders at all levels in the organization, outside vendor contacts, internal business partners, employees, retirees, surviving spouses, beneficiaries, etc. 
  • Ability to analyze large data sets, assess trends or patterns and make recommendations based on data (quantitative) and situational factors (qualitative). 
  • Must be able to simplify data to arrive at main conclusions, key presentation and discussion points.
  • Excellent verbal, presentation, and written communication skills.
  • Significant experience with the use of HR systems/relational data bases (SAP experience preferred).
  • MS office proficiency and Excel skills required.
  • Ability to keep abreast of changes in Total Rewards-related laws, requirements, and regulations by participating in workshops, attending seminars, forums, and subscribing to information services.
