Data Analyst- Marketing

The responsibility of this position is to perform data analysis to make recommendations and develop and manage action plans to support Gerdau’s marketing and sales processes and practices.  The Data Analyst will often act as a lead to coordinate projects and improvements.  The Data Analyst will regularly work with minimal supervision from the Marketing Manager on projects by developing and managing the action plans, analyzing research results, and presenting strategies and deploying them to help the organization meet its strategic goals. 




The Data Analyst will be responsible for analysis, recommendations, development and deployment of action plans and process improvements with little need of validation by the Marketing Manager. The Data Analyst will be accountable for data stewardship and governance (automation and processes), Power BI (development and routine reporting), regression/statistical modeling and predictive capabilities (development and routine analysis) and work as lead coordinating projects.  The Data Analyst will be responsible for creating insights, collaboration, predictive analysis, machine learning, data scrapping and recommending specific actions to drive business objectives. 



  • Supervises who (level and number):  N/A (none) but some coaching is expected
  • Reports to:  Marketing Manager




The Data Analyst will perform these duties with minimal management validation:


  1. Market Analysis:
    1. Execution and enhancement of established econometric models for market segment forecasting. Generation of new forecasting models.
    2. Regular analysis of statistics (shipments, market share, by country, region, imports, exports) for Gerdau’s product group(s) and substitutes.  Output will be regular in frequency and format (clear graphic format that are readily understandable for intended audiences; internal and external depending on circumstance.)
    3. Competitor analysis
    4. Medium (1-3 year) and long term (3-10 year) market studies
  2. Product & Service Analysis:
    1. Monitor the competitive positioning of Gerdau products.
    2. Portfolio review (short term profitability and long term viability)
    3. Support on development and improvement of products and services
  3. Commercial Analysis:
    1. Commercial strategies (Segmentation)
    2. Customer classification
    3. Customer profitability
    4. Forecasting models
  4. Market Relationship Strategy Support
    1. Monitor relationship matrix
    2. Leverage technical sales support
    3. Leverage trade marketing resources
    4. Customer satisfaction survey (internal and external, creation and/or support)




  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in data science, data analysis, business, finace or a related area
  • Five (5) years of experience in business intelligence, data analysis, marketing analytics or related analytical roles preferred
  • Experience in a wide variety of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, using standard databases and analytical software
  • Analytically focused, and have proven experience developing action plans based on their own analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interacting with other departments and customers
  • Experience in planning and performing data analysis projects and processes from start to finish
  • Proficient with Power BI, statistical analysis and research methodologies, along with common programs (such as PowerPoint, Word and Excel), RPA technology (Robotic Process Automation), online survey tools and syndicated data sources
  • Time management, critical thinking and problem solving skills are required
  • Strong organizational skills, customer focus, work creatively and analytically to solve day-in and day-out problems
  • Requires proven ability to establish and maintain strong, positive relationships with commercial and operations teams
  • Prior knowledge and experience in manufacturing, steel or steel using industries preferred



The Data Analyst may be required to travel approximately four times per year to visit customers, mills, seminars, trainings and/or attend trade shows and trade association meetings.
