Purpose of the Role

 

To coordinate logistics operations and activity for Gerdau Metals Recycling.

 

Experience/Education Requirements:

 

  • University Degree / College Diploma in Supply Chain Logistics or Business.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong software skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Good interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Good negotiation skills.

 

Accountabilities and Responsibilities

 

  • Coordinating with Mill, Shredder & Yard operations to facilitate outbound and inbound shipments as required. Carrier sourcing, scheduling, coordination, rate negotiation and document administration.  
  • Attend all meetings required by the Division manager/supervisor.
  • Follow all plant and company safety guidelines in the performance of all job duties and responsibilities. Provide safety training and orientation for 3rd party carriers and drivers.
  • Develop logistics routing and create SAP freight tables for new Gerdau suppliers and 3rd party carriers. Includes Truck, Rail & Ocean.
  • Monitor all Gerdau SAP vendor contracts to ensure fulfilment in accordance with contract terms and delivery timeline commitments.
  • Be apt to the occasional after-hours phone call for customer service issues and scheduling.
  • Performs regular audits on carrier billing as well as internal system freight rate tables to ensure correct freight charges and applicable surcharges.
  • Administers corporate policies and safety requirements for all 3rd party carriers as well as annual training programs and new carrier setups.
  • Develop and maintain logistics KPI data and department reports to support analysis and projects related to logistics and company goals.
  • Responsible for all Canada Customs duties including clearance resolution, NAFTA certificates, Customs document creation.  
  • Provide backup support across various roles within logistics department.
  • Conduct and participate in operational meetings with Gerdau carriers and staff to review and resolve logistics related issues and implement opportunities for improvement.
  • Other duties as requested or required.

• Scheduling multiple logistics operations and 3rd party carriers throughout the Mid West region. Modes include Ocean Freight, Rail & Truck.

 

• Provide exceptional customer service while dealing with internal and external customers.

 

•Position involves a high level of organization, attention to detail and ability to problem solve in an ever-changing dynamic environment while providing excellent customer service.

 

• KPI development, data reporting and analysis.
