Job Summary:

The Stores Supervisor is responsible to facilitate the Storeroom and Materials Planning Process.  The incumbent facilitates the Storeroom personnel, coordination of the Materials Planning Process, and ensures that key functional Storeroom processes adhere to standardized GBS procedures.  The Stores Supervisor is knowledgeable about maintenance and production department needs and trends, formulating short and long term objectives to ensure quality and continuity of the supply chain while minimizing total cost of ownership.  Insures quality of services and seeks input from customers and management to improve services and meet customer needs.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the training, guidance, and performance evaluation of the stores team.
  • Provides assistance and guidance as necessary and required in developing specifications and verification of requirements for goods and services requested.
  • Assist suppliers in supply management and direction to meet the company’s needs for goods and services, and cost containment.
  • Ensures routine supervision of the Stores area. Including needs assessments, auditing, coaching, training, 5S improvements, and adherence to safety standards.
  • Administrates process for control standards, management standards, routine procedures, and job aids.
  • Coordinates the routine materials management activities such as forecast integration, demand management, inventory management, and scheduling. Including reorder point and safety stock evaluation, economic order quantity evaluation, obsolescence review, re-ordering of replenishment materials, coordination of the cycle count program, and maintaining accurate inventory master data. 
  • Monitors Stores KPI’s and executes corrective actions to achieve desired results.
  • Adheres to appropriate handling, storage, and safety requirements of stored products.
  • Determines inventory requirements through the effective utilization of the ERP systems. Facilitate the routine evaluation of reorder points (ROP) and safety stock parameters to ensure inventories are in line with historical and future consumption rates and lead times.
  • Periodically review and adjust economic order quantities (EOQ) to ensure a proper balance between ordering and carry costs.
  • Coordinate the Cycle Count Program to maintain accurate inventory counts. Thoroughly analyze discrepancies to identify root cause and implement corrective action.
  • Facilitate, with Maintenance and Operations, the obsolescence review and dispositioning process.
  • Work closely with Maintenance to proactively plan material requirements for routine maintenance; including the establishment of planning bill of materials (BOM) and master scheduling of routine maintenance.
  • Coordinate the treatment, reporting, and disposition of Non-Conforming materials. Ensure supplier performance documentation is accurately updated in a timely manner.
  • Develop and monitor performance (KPIs) expectations, audit performance, document findings, and establish corrective action.
  • Assist with development of annual action plans for Stores projects and personnel development.



  • Post-Secondary degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Economics, or related field.
  • Previous experience in purchasing and storerooms.
  • Previous experience in shipping/warehouse operations and supervisory/facilitation.
  • Solid interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize workload based on peak times.
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and detailed oriented in keeping accurate records.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office programs and software applications.
  • Familiarity with management systems is a plus. Eg. SAP
  • Good inventory control decisions and judgment.
